Realization from the Warsaw residential village could remain unnoticed, slate on the roofs isn't something extraordinary here. But the trained eye will notice a seemingly ordinary slate roof unusual technical solutions, materials, technology and type of coverage.
The roof covered with slate Ratscheck's company, format spitzwinkel (often called a mating French). This type of coverage is nowadays rarely used on our country. Shame that this style has been "forgotten" since the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century was quite common in some regions of Poland and mansard roofs were always performed in this difficult technique. French coverage we can admire on the roofs of many palaces in Europe (for example Potocki palace in Lviv) and the roofs of Paris houses, where this style originated in mating.
In case of this realization the bar was raised for the contractor very high. The facade is designed as a ventilated facade of sandstone with a cornice "qadratte". Implementation of flashings at the interface between slate and ventilated facade require from the executor the highest level of craftsmanship, knowledge and skills in tins craft. You can say that the craftsmanship in this case has been turned into art.
Our company was a supplier of slate and author of the technical solutions. The contractor was a one of the most successful Polish roofers Jerzy Romanow - (phone number 501 074 084, website address www.dach-dom.com) Mr. George's company for years is specializing in roofing slate and has won many perfectly executed roofs.
